Homeschool for all Ages
This is for those of you who have asked what homeschool looks like with one kid in school and two babies that are not yet school age. The kindergartener is carrying the ‘1’ while his little brother is learning through osmosis. And their sister…well, I better go look for her!
In all seriousness, it is true that sometimes it does look like the pictures above, but most of the time, the two youngest are at school as well. After my son has mastered his lesson, he becomes the little teacher and trickles the lesson down to his siblings (who enjoy listening to him more than they enjoy listening to me). So, after he is done spelling words, he asks his sister what sound each letter makes and to name words that start with that letter. From there, they both ask their baby brother to identify the letters and repeat what sound each letter makes. After my son is done carrying the “1”, he shows his sister simple addition on her fingers, and they both quiz their brother on his numbers.
While the younger two still have shorter attention spans, at least they are still being exposed to the structure and what is being taught. If they happen to pick something up along the way, awesome!
