Charlie Brown Birthday Party
My favorite Teal Bird Event of 2011 was for two clients that are very dear to me, my little boy and little girl! The event was a Charlie Brown Christmas Birthday Bash and man, was it fun! The idea was to plan a party that Charlie Brown and his crew would have personally thrown for each other; something fun, colorful, warm, and homemade. Take a look at some of the elements that went into putting this party together.
I designed custom Charlie Brown cartoon characters of my little boy and girl to use for their party invitation.
I created a birthday party station and backdrop for the babies to share with their guests.
A party isn’t a party without food. Guests hit up the snack station for pretzels, popcorn, marshmallows, cranberries, and crackers. For those guests looking to do more than just snack, simple, yet delicious, grilled cheese sandwiches (with and without turkey bacon), fire roasted tomato soup, banana pudding, homemade hot cocoa, and sparkling apple juice were also provided.
Let’s not forget about the cake. The babies enjoyed mini vanilla cakes, topped with personalized birthday caption bubbles. The guest enjoyed cinnamon apple cake with cream cheese frosting.
For decoration, homemade paper ornaments on the tree, hanging from the ceiling, and placed in small containers on the table. Of course, the iconic Charlie Brown tree made an appearance as well.
One word captions such as “slice” on the cake, “sing” on the radio dial, “bathe” on the bathroom door, “take” on the favor table, and “smile” near the photo station filled the party space. While, colorful quotes from the movie found their place on the walls. My favorite image in the space was the framed Linus speech of what Christmas is all about (from Luke 2:8-14).
Felt rosette hair pins were given as my little girl’s gift to her guest, and $1 MP3 downloads cards were given as my son’s gift to his guest.
Additional party favors included snoopy bone shaped brownies packaged in origami brown craft paper boxes and custom snoopy doghouses filled with candy.
On their way out, guests were able to take their picture at against the custom, snowy, tree lot backdrop, complete with personalized dry erase board caption bubbles.
These blessed babies, and believe me, they are blessed, were able to use their party to collect blankets for a non-profit organization (www.projectlinus.org) that provides new and homemade blankets to children in need.
The night concluded with a “private viewing” of the classic Charlie Brown Christmas Movie (projector + blank wall = home movie theater). Good night! Let’s just say, next year’s party is already in the works.
